JULY 2012: The current Koh Lanta real estate and properties market continues to slowly increase after a long slump during the world economic crisis. Purchases (by foreigners) have been consistent in the lower end and (for some projects) in the mid range of the market. Prices are generally continuing to rise with the promise of a new bridge linking Lanta Yai to Lanta Noi.
While Koh Lanta continues to struggle with some accessibility, environmental and infrastructure issues, it is a lovely and safe place to retire or to buy a Ko Lanta holiday home. Buyers on Koh Lanta often see these ‘issues’ as a benefit because it keeps the island from the hustle and bustle of other locations Phuket and Koh Samui.
Prices for Koh Lanta land for sale range from about 1 M THB to 15 M THB per Rai (1 Rai = 1,600 sqm or 17,222 sqf) depending on the location. Villas and apartments range in price from 3 M THB to 45 M THB. These prices are not less expensive when compared to prices in Phuket or Koh Samui.
